Computers and Technology

Our school offers interactive whiteboards in each classroom, as well as a number of iPads and laptops in each class.
The children also have access to educational games, typing practice and many opportunities to create well presented typed work in classroom situations.

Keeping in line with modern technologies, the school has a number of iPad's that children are able to use for creating movies and presentations for parade, documenting the highlights of day-to-day activities at Rockville, and creating short films and other presentations as part of their classroom learning.
iPad's are also available during break times for children to play educational games, take photos and interact as part of a group or individually.

Swimming at Rockville Sate School

Rockville State School offers children access to the swimming pool during lunch breaks to encourage water safety and a healthy lifestyle.
Swimming at these times is supervised by staff who have a current first aid certificate and pool safety certificate.
Formal swimming lessons are also held in the warmer months of the year as part of the physical education program.

Cooking and Gardening

At Rockville State School, we provide a unique addition to our curriculum that is not available at any other school in Toowoomba.  Through a grant from the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Foundation, we were able to set up large vegetable gardens, a kitchen and a dining room at the school.  We have been able to integrate our cooking and gardening programs into the curriculum, where we have a focus on growing, harvesting, cooking and sharing healthy food.  Find out more about the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program at Rockville State School.
